Suchakree must have felt dejected after having missed several opportunities to wrap up the final at the Patchara Hotel much earlier, but missing simple pots was always going to be a costly exercise.
In the end what made the difference was not Suchakree's miscues at crucial junctures, but Thepchaiya's awesome potting.
Thepchaiya, like throughout the tournament, once again added the oomph element to the title showdown by executing pots that were apparently never there for the taking.
His brilliance was summed up in one sentence by his rival after the match, when Suchakree said: "When somebody is potting like that there is nothing much you can do but to wait for him to steal the match away from you."
Thepchaiya scored his fifth century break of the tournament, which is co-sponsored by CAT Telecom and Sports Authority of Thailand, to impress an overflowing crowd at the venue with a 105-point run.
However, he then found himself on the receiving end. Suchakree, playing out of his skin, controlled the proceedings and gained a massive lead 3-1 lead.
Suchakree, a former word under-21 championship runner-up who has returned to the national snooker scene after an absence of over five years, played so well in the final that nobody would believe the Saraburi native was on a comeback trail.
Thepchaiya picked up minor but important breaks in the fifth frame to narrow the margin to 3-2, but Suchakree hit back once again and widened his lead to 4-2.
Thepchaiya, who is set to play on the world professional Main Tour starting August, then put a show worthy of a maestro to reel home three frames in a row to dent Suchakree's title dream.
Thepchaiya received the winner's purse of 100,000 baht while Suchakree was rewarded with a cash prize of 50,000 baht.
The third event of the Thailand Professional Circuit -- SangSom Pak Nam Pho Cup 2009 -- takes place at the 4,000-seat Gymnasium of the Nakhon Sawan Provincial Stadium.
